Changing the way Custom Leagues get created

I sent the following message to commissioners earlier this week to explain the new policy on creating custom leagues. I want to share with everyone on the site. I think everyone here knows I continue to do my best to keep as much of the site free as possible, even in the face of dwindling ad revenue. But this was a change that simply needed to happen, and I hope everyone can understand why. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns:

Dear Commissioners, thank you for all the great work you do running your fantastic leagues on this site. Most of you are amazing. Unfortunately, most new commissioners still struggle to get their leagues off ground successfully, and it has become a huge burden on me to clean up dead leagues, screen potential new commissioners, answer complaints when custom leagues go bad, etc.

Poorly run leagues wind up hurting the reputation of the site. The little time I have to spend on Pennant Chase is being wasted on administrative baby sitting rather than improving the site. Therefore, I have decided it's time to start charging a small annual fee to run a new league.

We will see how this goes, but my hope is it will weed out those who truly aren't serious. For those who can't afford it, they can still become a vice to an existing league and eventually inherit a league if they prove their worth. For those of you who are currently running a league, your league won't expire for a while. I consider you all grandfathered in to your leagues. If you pass your league to another commish, that commish will inherit the league's expiration date, so you can freely pass leagues back and forth if you wish. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to reach out.
