Having a guy hit 70 HR's every season makes the Sim a joke- its not a flaw - its a ridiculous and destroys any semblance to reality. but I'm sure people will find a reason to defend it and tell me I have no clue

The flaw is having bot teams that pick the worst pitching staffs. 3 teams with pitchers having sky high whips is the cause. The league I'm in where rj has thrown back to back no-no's is a custom fave teams league where every team is stacked so that makes it more impressive.

custom league field of dreams season 7 game 62 and 67 back to back no hitters , it happened. Didn't mention anything about every season

I took away the games where Velazquez was on fire and his stats become
.223/.300/.536 = .836 OPS
83 Runs
56 HRs
117 RBIs
in 604 at bats compared to .889 OPS in 162 at bats in real life. He gets to play 162 games because the DH rule - which maybe should be revisited.
I think that's a good change if the league was using OWar instead of Fire and a reasonable way to handle short season monsters like Velazquez.

His yearly homer totals in that league , 74-77-74 , when you have bot teams that have pitching staffs with whips over 1.5 ,thats what you will get. I think that's one thing I would like to see fixed would be better ai on the assembling of the bot teams.

I am not directing this at any one's opinion. Just want to pose a question. What is it we want? Every sim to be exactly like real life? With stud pitchers facing stud hitters, something has to give. Then when those studs go up against scrubs you get some video game numbers.
It all depends on what we are looking for. We are all different and get a kick out of different things. I avoid leagues with rules I dont like. Or stat setups that aren't my preference. Custom leagues with "S" potentials progress to crazy numbers. Some of those leagues I like.
If we aren't enjoying what we are doing, do something else.

When people complain about things being not realistic , it reminds me of an interview Ty Cobb gave before he died. He was asked how he thought he would fare against todays pitchers. He said he would probably hit around .300. The reporter seemed shocked , " only .300 Ty ?" Ty replied " well , I am 60 yrs old !! "

I never just said go do something else. I did say it wasn't directed at anyone specifically. What I also said was If someone isn't enjoying what they are doing they should do something else. It is a forum. All opinions are welcome. Including mine.

I agree on the Custom leagues with S progression as well, if I don't care for CRAZY stats, I just don't play those Leagues, but these are Auto Leagues which is troubling

I don’t mean to be just be another voice in a tiresome discussion that always breaks down into an argument,
but…
For anyone who wants a more realistic baseball experience, there’s real fantasy baseball. Based on real performances by real players in real time. I did it for a lot of years and it was a lot of fun, until COVID ruined the world and I ended up here (and haven’t looked back).
This is a computer based simulation based on ratio stats from past performances. It’s not supposed to be “real”. And if you remove all the quirks and idiosyncrasies, it would be boring and predictable. If the sim just generated exactly what happened in real life, there’d be no point in any of this. You could just go to baseball reference and get lost in all the real numbers and have the same experience (that actually is fun too). That’s not what PC is about, IMO..

Also if you want a “real” baseball experience you could put in a couple hours of practice and then try out for the White Sox. You’d easily make the team, and then even though the White Sox aren’t a real major league team anymore, at least you’d get to see real baseball when the other teams come to town. 😁

No one is ripping on Pennant Chase , just an honest opinion that it would be great if this was also realistic , but it's obviously fun or we wouldn't be doing it .
